Platelet-Rich Plasma – The Natural Treatment For Tissue Regeneration and Healing

When we talk about skin rejuvenation and the use of treatments to obtain younger-looking skin, the safest method that we can consider is plasmolifting. It is not a new-age procedure but has seen its application in aesthetic surgery recently.

The procedure promises to produce immediate and long-lasting results in minimizing acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, the appearance of pores, and an overall improvement in the tone, texture, and vitality of the skin making it look much younger and more elastic.

The procedure is performed by using platelet-rich plasma that is collected in specialized PRP tubes filled with a gel-based material. When these tubes are centrifuged, you get highly concentrated platelet-rich plasma while other blood components get separated. You can buy such medical-grade test tubes from Dr. Renat Akhmerov’s Plasmolifting Technologies. They are based in Deutschland and supply all types of equipment needed for PRP therapies to medical professionals.

Regenerative properties of platelets

The platelets in our blood contain growth factors that stimulate tissue regeneration, healing at the site of injuries, and blood clotting to stop bleeding. In dental surgeries, the use of plasma-rich platelets is used widely to treat bone loss and inflammation in the gums caused by periodontal diseases.

When such highly regenerative plasma is injected into our skin, it begins the process of healing and tissue formation almost immediately giving the desired cosmetology results in improving our skin tone. It can also be used to treat hair loss in many patients by stimulating the formation of new blood vessels and improving blood circulation to promote hair growth.

The platelets in the plasma activate certain metabolic processes that stimulate the synthesis of:

  •         Elastin,
  •         Hyaluronic acid, and
  •         Collagen

All these 3 are involved in the restoration of lost volume and tone of facial skin. Our plasma is also rich in many vitamins, hormones, enzymes, and proteins that provide the right environment for active repair to take place at the cellular level.

Some patients also take plasmolifting sessions immediately before special events to improve their skin texture and complexion. When we use the patient’s platelets and inject them back, the risk of allergy is minimized that is usually noticed when a foreign drug or tissue is introduced into our system.

Plasmolifting gel and its use in the plasmolifting procedure

By heating autologous plasma to the desired temperature in special thermostats, what we receive is known as Plasmogel or autologous gel. This gel is then injected into intradermal sites requiring treatment in a non-traumatic and minimally invasive manner after application of local anesthesia.

The advantage of using gel is that it gets homogeneously distributed and does not leave any signs or traces of treatment.

There are no adverse reactions or side effects and it markedly improves skin quality by:

  • Filling up grooves and wrinkles.
  • Restoring tissue volume that is lost during the process of aging.
  • Stimulating the production of collagen.
  • Elastin restructuring.

The plasmolifting effects by the use of plasmogel can last for 3 months at a stretch and you can get a repeated correction as soon as 2 weeks after the initial procedure.

While the process is very safe, you must not undergo plasmolifting procedures if you have any systemic blood disorders, neoplasms, allergies to heparin, diabetes, and mental disorders.
