Perimenopause Symptoms

When you reach 40-60 years of age, this becomes a time where it’s necessary to focus on your needs to accomplish physical and emotional safety. During this period, women have a better feeling of control over many aspects of their lives. This can also be a period of life in which the woman should set up new goals in life that might be significantly different than those set before. Any children you had are most probably grown up now, some of them even have families so many women have a lot of free time in this period which simply wasn’t there until now. It’s easy to start a new career, go to college or any course, become more active in the community or simply start a new hobby.

Your body also goes through some significant changes. Usually in the beginning of 40 years of age there is a pre-phase which is called perimenopause. This is a period in which you go through a lot of changes in term of hormone balance and menstrual cycles. Generally speaking, perimenopause symptoms are most common at 45-55 years of age, but this does vary a lot – there is no specific rule here. During this period your ovaries produce less estrogen which is crucial for all the other changes in your body. Since these changes gradually appear, most women can’t really pin the point when peri menopause starts.

Perimenopause in depth

A general definition of this is the lack of menstrual cycle which can take about a year to fully happen. Averagely, women get their last cycle with 51 years of age. Peri menopause is a natural change. Even though all women go through same basic changes, the manifestation of these is different. Some women are having mild symptoms during this period, while some other women experience a more significant and intense symptoms. There are no two women who are having the exact same experience during this period.

It’s important for women to enter this period informed and to have a positive attitude towards it. Knowing what and when to expect, a woman is capable to undertake proper steps to reduce the symptom intensity, possibly completely annihilating any noticeable health issues. When peri menopause starts, ovaries tend to extract less estrogen. Sometimes, due to the lack of estrogen, there is no ovulation and menstrual cycle can completely vanish. Usually, there is a yearlong period for this to really happen and if you went through a whole year without a single period, you’ve entered peri menopause.

Some women tend to compare this period with puberty, which is another period in life when your body goes through significant changes. A woman can have many symptoms or only a few which are more obvious and can be mild or intensive. It’s important to know what you’re going through so that you don’t put any stress on yourself about having a condition of some kind because this is a completely natural and regular period in your life.
