Malignant Neoplasm in Breast, Brain, Colon, Skin, Thyroid Gland, Liver, Bladder, Kidney and Lungs

Malignant neoplasm may be more familiar to you as cancer or a tumor, since this is practically the same. This is a pathological creation caused by abnormal cell multiplication. The growth of the malignant neoplasm exceeds growth of normal tissues; it is biologically purposeless, irregular and unorganized. Basically, malignant neoplasms create after normal physiological regulation of the control mechanisms of the cell growth. The newly created cells consist of starting cells and can differ a lot structurally and functionally but in most cases it can be recognized from which type of cells the tumor has started. These conditions usually have a serious prognosis, some of which are actually fatal so this is an actual and popular topic as new methods of treatment need to be found.

Today we will take a look at some specific properties of malignant neoplasms that occur in different parts of the body, which are being most common. We’ll start with neoplasms on breasts.

Breast

Breast cancer (malignant neoplasm) is a tumor which is followed by plenty of early symptoms. Breast pain can occur in about 10% of patients in very early stages. The first symptom is usually a small lump which about 80% of patients discover with self-diagnostic. In about 2-3% of patients a watery, pus filled excretion can be noticed. Leading symptoms include lumps and the appearance of knots inside the breast as well as any changes on the skin. These leading symptoms are basically indicators of an advanced tumor.

Brain

Brain tumors occur in about 5-15 cases on 100 000 people. A basic division of tumors is on primary and secondary. Primary tumors are those tumors that have been created from the brain tissue, with the secondary tumors being those caused by metastases. Due to the specific position of brain tumors, they have special symptoms. Brain edema is a common consequence where the brain blood vessels tend to break due to the increased pressure from the ever-growing tumor. This is what can cause most damage prior to diagnosis.

Colon

Colon cancer is one of the most common malicious diseases in both genders. Most of the patients suffering from this are 60 or over, with an unknown cause. Epidemiological researches have determined a higher frequency of this condition in highly civilized countries, where a high percentage of diet is taken by animal fats, with a low percentage of plant fibers. By discovering this cancer in its early phase, lives may be saved. Treatment in this phase is very successful since the cancer is very slow in terms of its growth. With this, surgery treatment may be avoided.

Skin

Skin cancer is usually a foreign growth caused by abnormal and uncontrolled development of epidermis cells. There are multiple types of skin cancer which are different based on the type of cells from which the cancer is developed. Melanoma is most known malignant neoplasm which has a good chance of being treated but only if it has been discovered in its early phase. In the advanced stage the cancer will spread into the lymph and blood. It can start anywhere on your skin, head, even under nails. Moles need to be observed carefully as any change in their appearance may indicate a skin cancer.

Thyroid Gland

This is a rare type of cancer which is growing slowly and has a low fatality rate. There are several different types of this cancer, most common one being papillary cancer of the thyroid gland and the follicular cancer of the gland which are commonly found together. When this occurs, we’re talking about a well differentiated cancer of the thyroid gland. Due to the possibility of a recurrent cancer, it is recommended for the patients who did have thyroid gland cancer to control it regularly during their entire lives. Many doctors say that control examinations during the first 5 to 10 years after surgical procedure are due to critical radiation.

Liver

Liver cancer is “silent” and in the beginning phases it comes with no symptoms whatsoever. As it grows it may cause symptoms such as abdomen swelling, excretion of gall, loss of appetite, loss of body weight, weakness and a sensation of general exhaustion. If these symptoms do indicate liver cancer, the doctor needs to check the patient and order some special tests in order for the cancer to be confirmed. Ultrasound and CT are two most famous methods of discovering liver related malignant neoplasms.

Bladder

Bladder cancer is the most common tumor of the urinary system. It is three times as common with men rather than women, being most common with men older than 60. However, this doesn’t eliminate the chance of this cancer appearing in an earlier age. This is an infiltrating type of cancer which can be treated with complex surgical procedures which include removal of the bladder, providing some sort of urinary derivation. Almost half of these cancers are caused by severe and sudden progression from an earlier condition.

Kidney

Kidney cancer is diagnosed based on anamnesis, clinical image and the overall examination of the patient. Ultrasound and computerized tomography is also used. With some patients it is necessary to do magnetic resonance in order to get a more detailed preview of the tumor and its spreading on the surrounding structures. Renal arteriography is also used, showing blood vessels of the tumor. It is necessary to get roentgen recording as well since metastases from this cancer can be found in the lungs.

Lungs

Lung cancer is a disease in which the cancer cells are found in the lungs or bronchi. Primary malicious lung tumors originate from the transformed epistle cells of the mucosa. Rarely, primary lung cancer may originate from other cells such as carcinoids. Lung cancer is one of the most malicious diseases in men, being more and more common with women lately.
