Clearing The Common Misconceptions About CBD

If you are one of those people who are suffering from a chronic condition like pain and anxiety, it is very likely that you are wondering what cannabidiol (CBD) is all about. Ever since states in the US have started to legalize medical and recreational cannabis, there has been a sudden influx of cannabidiol products in the market. In spite of the publicity, most people are still unsure about its possible benefits.

What is cannabidiol?

Cannabidiol or CBD is one of the active compounds that can be found in a cannabis plant. Another active compound is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) that has active properties that result in a “high.” CBD is not psychoactive and has a number of therapeutic benefits without that feeling of euphoria.  THC is also being promoted as being more effective than CBD products, however, there are still states that have not legalized the use of medical marijuana. The only option is products containing hemp-derived CBD.

There is very little research on CBD, but the results of studies have been promising. According to some studies CBD is effective in providing relief from some mental conditions like schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and addiction. In one of the studies, it was revealed that CBD oil may treat pain associated with arthritis while CBD cream is effective in reducing inflammations.

Various ways of taking CBD

CBD is available in oils and tinctures, creams and lotions, capsules and pills, edibles, vaping, and more recently as a roll-on stick. CBD oils and tinctures are a good option for people who do not like taking pills and capsules. Oils that are infused with CBD are placed under the tongue using a dropper so that it will be quickly absorbed by the tiny capillaries.

Lotions and creams that are infused with CBD can be applied directly to the skin to help manage pain and inflammation associated with arthritis. While research on CBD topicals is still in its early stages, early findings show that CBD topicals are effective based on source, quality, and dosage.

The Food and Drug Administration has recently approved Epidiolex, which includes CBD among its ingredients to treat seizures associated with two rare and severe forms of epilepsy. This approval is a strong reminder that the active ingredients of the cannabis plant can lead to important medical benefits.

One of the most popular forms of CBD is gummies because they are more affordable, portable, edible, and discrete. However, the best form of CBD if you want to experience immediate effects is inhaling vaporized CBD oil. The compounds are inhaled like e-cigs to be absorbed directly by the lungs into the bloodstream. When using CBD products, it is suggested to start with lower doses until you know how the body will react.

One of the newest forms of CBD is CBD roll-on sticks that are portable and easy to apply to alleviate muscle aches and pains. Roll-on sticks that contain organic hemp are the best option for immediate results. However, do a little research before buying because the hemp must come from organic sources to achieve the best results.
